Now who's a Stylista....

I've discovered a new found appreciation for Looklet. If you've ever wanted to play around with a vast mix of different pieces without the budget or connections of a stylist, then this is the site for you. There's hundreds of items, ranging from High Street (Topshop and my beloved Monki) to designer (Vivienne Westwood, good old Luella), as well as a few unknown but equally nice labels. Though this site still makes me want to spend a large proportion of my student loan on newness, it also reminds me that I actually own similar bits (ripped denim shorts, long vest tops etc) in my disorganised mess of a room, which are just waiting to be styled together into a new creative mix. Some items on the site are vintage, or have no price/buying details, so it's not like you could buy everything easily anyway. At the moment, it's purely a fantasy activity to create new fashion possibilities. Here's a few I made earlier, the names are a bit rubbish:

I just wish there was a choice of more models, a Jourdan Dunn, Alice Burdeau or a Daniela Kocianova lookalike, and it would be interesting you could make the models do different poses. Despite this, I like the way you can make your 'looks' look like mini magazine editorials, and I'm sure this site can only get better with more customisation options and user input. It's currently invite only, but I'll let you know if it changes. I see this as the start of a long and beautiful friendship.

Through the site, I also discovered some great labels, which confirm Sweden as my holiday destination of choice. Blank offers clean and simple pieces with a slight edge, I have no idea of the prices, but I doubt they are in the Monki reigon. I love the two-tone leggings.

Minimarket is designed by three sisters, and they all work together in perfect harmony creating quirky, detailed and highly wearable garments. I could see the ladybug inspired sweater put together with a blazer and white tights, Gossip Girl style.

Oh yeah, and I lost another scarf, a silk one, which is annoying as it was a present from the placement I did last summer. I seem to be incapable of keeping hold of my accessories, but at least I haven't managed to lose something really valuable like my phone or purse (touch wood). Guess some serious vintage hunting is in order.

Hey KB, thanks for sharing! I can't wait to play around in Looklet. Have you ever tried Polyvore? It looks similar to Looklet. So how long does it take to get an invite when you sign up?

Thanks for posting this... I definitely need to check out Looklet over the weekend. Love the looks you put together and I agree - I've been somewhat obsessed with Swedish labels for a while (to the point I've ordered some stuff via Swedish websites using Google Translate). Wish they were more readily available!
