Cobwebs, Fireworks and everything in between

Another one of those rare 'Outfits of the Week' posts, encompassing two rather Autumnal traditions, Halloween and Bonfire Night. I definitely need to try and take more outfit posts in my adopted Uni house whilst I have the perfect White Wall for the next 7 months.  The only downside is that it's right by a window where the neighbours can peer in, meaning there are many self-timed outtakes of me hiding behind the sofa at the sight of the postman.  Oh dear.

Saturday
Leather Jacket - Topshop
Lace Panel Maxi Dress - The Scarlet Room
Cobweb Tights - Urban Outfitters
Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell
Jewellery - Brooklyn, Topshop, Primark, DIY
Hat - Random fancy dress shop bought 1 hour before closing time

Halloween probably seems like aeons ago for most now, but I wanted to show my last-minute.com outfit.  It wasn't quite as planned as last year's spectacular, due to the whole knitting deadline, so I did what anyone else would do in this situation; go as a witch!  All you need is something black and suitably gothic and it just so happened that some of my clothes were pretty spooky anyway (the tights were never intended for costume purposes, believe it or not).  Next year I definitely want to make more of an effort; the original plan was to go as An Extreme Hipster but I was worried about translating it into a suitable costume, but now I have a whole year to plan with military precision.

Baggy top mesh skirt

Topshop and Primark rings Barry M nail effects

Monday
Mesh Skirt, Pointed ring - Topshop
Striped Skirt - Forever 21
Tights - Uniqlo
Boots - eBay
Vintage look ring - Primark
Necklaces - Brooklyn, DIY

I did wonder how I might wear the mesh skirt once the cold weather hit, as I loved wearing it with cycle shorts back in September, so decided to try it out with a body-con skirt layered underneath and bright tights for maximum warmth.  If you squint slightly, you can also see that I too am a Barry M nail effects obsessive.  My favourite combination is to use it with metallic shades, what's yours?

Denim shirt, vintage skirt, brown brogues

Urban Outfitters Striped tights, tabio sparkly socks and office brogues

Thursday
Denim shirt - Topshop
Skirt - Vintage via Angels Sale
Belt - Battersea Boot Fair
Tights - Urban Outfitters
Socks - courtesy of Tabio
Brogues - Office

I'm feeling the need to be a bit more colourful at the moment, as I seem to always be buying anything new in black or grey.  This skirt is one of the brightest I own and quite like the fact it's frayed at the hem due to my dodgy tailoring skills.

A/wear bow detail shift dress worn on the London Eye

Tights, bracelet - Topshop
Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell
Necklace - Brooklyn Charm

Well look at that, I'm back down South and on The London Eye no less!  First things first, the dress I'm wearing was sent to me by A|Wear to review and luckily it came just in time for the latest Aussie event.  The site is pretty easy to navigate and I soon spotted this dress featured in one of the ad campaigns (click Factory Girl), styled in a very 60s sort of way.  This isn't normally my decade  of choice when it comes to fashion and I was worried the shift style wouldn't suit me, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it on. There's a lot of contrast peter pan collars on the high street at the moment, but I like how this dress nods to the trend using bows instead.  It's one of the most feminine dresses I own and I can't wait to wear it again, perhaps layered with a skirt over the top for a different look.

The latest Aussie event was to celebrate the launch of the Take the Heat range, designed to protect ourselves from the crazy amount of straightening and hair-drying we end up subjecting our hair to.  It aptly coincided with Bonfire Night, where you might typically watch the fireworks shivering in a park somewhere, complete with screaming kids.  Not for us; we were treated to champagne and cocktails on The London Eye, with a view of the capital that we took for granted after a while (as we went round twice) showcasing multiple displays at every angle.  It's moments like this that make you realise what an amazing city London is, as I hadn't been on the Eye since its opening ten years ago and certainly never at night.  Since I attend university in the Midlands, it's easy to get caught up with everything happening there and forget where your home actually is so it was great to see London from a new perspective.

Yummy Hummer Crew
The 'Yummy Hummer' crew included  Fiona, Amy, Reena, Sherin, Harriet, Danielle & Maria, Jazmine and Jenny.
Lucy, Yishyene and Carrie were also about too.

Another reason I love the Aussie events so much, is the amazing group of people I get to spend time with. It can be hard to make new friends outside of the usual university and work circles, but blogging has really made it easier to meet like-minded people from all over the country. It's been just over a year since the first event and it was great to reminisce about our experiences with the Uncover Aussie project, as well as meeting newer Angels.  As we were leaving the eye, we were envisioning a freezing walk over Waterloo Bridge, but luckily two stretch Hummer/Limo hybrids were waiting to take us to a nearby Covent Garden bar for further fun and frolics.  There is not much suitable photographic evidence, but we did have many random discussions about blogging/fashion, a  little boogie on the dancefloor to 'Single Ladies' and maybe a few too many mojitos (I think I might have randomly exclaimed 'Gogo Phillip' at Amy).  A special thanks to the lovely Emma who organised the whole night and made sure everything was okay!

I realise this is a bit of an epic post; well done if you made it to the end!  There are now more photos on my Facebook Page.
