So here it is again, another Fashion Week! As if you weren't already prefixed by Pre-Fall and trying to work out when to start wearing SS13, it's now time to start thinking even further ahead. Yesterday got off to a slightly dodgy start with a sock malfunction and missed show but luckily things picked up, I ran into lots of people I knew and managed to make it to my first show of the day at the grand time of 5pm. Now a PPQ ticket is mighty hard to come by these days and I might have been stuck waiting outside for the duration of the show if it weren't for LG (the words 'shall I get in the PP-queue may have been uttered and luckily I stood in the right place at the right time). I had a lovely seat which I promptly gave up to assume my usual glamorous position (crouched between the aisles on the floor) all in aid of capturing the action in the best way I could manage.
I personally think that AW13 is going to be all about having the ultimate coat, I've never been so inspired by outerwear and sporting the most creative armour possible to battle the elements. The show opened with a series of colour popping styles, each with a 50s style contrast rever and plenty of perfectly applied eyeliner (something I still need to master). Titled 'Bizarre Bazaar' a lot of ground was covered, busy novelty prints complete with complementary cameo embroideries, cocktail dresses adorned with satin patchworks and and plenty of dramatic organza gowns to finish off. It seems that every decade has been used to describe the show, which is surely of a result of how designers mesh several eras together within a ten-minute show and how we have ideas in our heads based on films and images we have seen. I myself saw the 60s in the neat, fitted coats and the 80s in the velvet party frocks with glamorous back detailing, no doubt based on seeing some of my Mum's old snaps. I remember the music being particularly amazing but due to my Vine not working, any snippets I had are lost forever! Is anyone else frustrated with that app? Hopefully I can put some shows on there soon, I've seen it being used in some really creative ways and want to test it out.
