how to wear an oversized Spring coat

When you get more text messages from ASOS than actual friends, you know there's a problem.  Yet again I was prompted to order something due to a flash sale, it's a version of those baseball contrast sleeve dresses that have been around a while but has a little more material on the bottom half to balance things out a little.  The week before it was a trench coat and prior to that it was a bikini, even though my holiday plans are non-existent.  I guess I'm easily persuaded by technology, to combat this I've unsubscribed to the messages and vowed to stop checking reductions obsessively.  Hopefully I'll get more texts from real people soon enough, though in this gadget obsessed world any messages are really spread across Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp and the occasional Snapchat.  It's enough to make your head hurt trying to remember which platform you use to speak to different people!

Yet again this outfit is a bit different to the last, as much as I wanted to be sophisticated in all black, I thought I'd add my tweedy Spring coat by Monki to lighten things up a little.  This dress is nice to wear for those in between, not-quite-sure-what-the-weather-is-doing days, so I'm glad I bought it really plus it's from the Scandinavian brand Just Female.  Even when I'm wearing a lot of relatively plain stuff, I like there to be a few interesting details so my tights have squares on, my socks have minute dots and my shoes look like something I would have wanted to wear to school.

So Wednesday was one of those random/surreal blogging days that you struggle to explain to your aunt/friend who works in insurance. I spent most of the afternoon in the Soho Hotel escaping the rain and enjoying the plush surroundings for the Next High Summer press day. Each season the brand comes up with a few unexpected items that you need to snap up before they disappear (this skirt was one of them). It's definitely important not to disregard any shop at the moment, there'll be times when I ask someone where an item's from before doing a bit of a gasp and typing in the URL as soon as possible.

Afterwards, I headed to the Caffè Nero roastery in Battersea to learn about all things coffee related.  It's my grown-up drink of choice but I had no idea why exactly I liked Cappuccinos so much.  It's the kind of drink you order when prompted because it sounds like you know what you're talking about but actually the addition of milk makes it a helluva lot sweeter.  The amount of skill that goes into making the perfect cuppa is astounding and even creating the shapes on the foam can take a while to master.  It makes going back to my homemade instant coffees very difficult indeed.

So that's how midweek looked for me, showers, Soho and a few strange looks on this street corner.  Do you find that people just manifest whenever you need a snap?

  5. Is that a cappuccino in the last shot there? it looks very creamy to be one, almost like a flat white though I know they don't do them (well if you ask nicely they do but they don't taste so good). I like the raglan sleeve dress too, but not toooo sure about the brand name?
